ABOUT THE COMPOSITION Faroese Folks Songs is an arrangement of two folk songs coming from the Faroe Islands, a small archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean located between Iceland, the United Kingdom, and Norway. The original arrangement was commissioned for two clarinets and piano in 2022 by clarinetists Jenny Maclay and Catherine Wood and was rescored for concert band in 2023.

Faroese Folks Songs was premiered on May 29, 2024 by the Lord Selkirk School Division Junior Symphonic Band under the direction of conductor, Kenley Kristofferson.
